Pitch Correction and Voice Modeling™ option
Introduction

The Pitch Correction and Voice Modeling™ optional plug-in for Korg Pa1X completes your vocal processing signal chain by adding features only found in dedicated Vocal Processors selling for over $1200.

Vocals communicate the message and meaning of music. That’s why so much time is spent working on vocal sounds. The plug-in adds to two features that allow you to polish and expand your vocal sound.

The live Pitch Correction algorithm works like in a compressor in that it can subtlely put your vocal in tune. Whether you’re an experienced vocalist or singing is not your primary instrument, Pitch Correction can give you an extra level of confidence.

TC-Helicon’s Voice Modeling™ technology provides the second feature to the plug-in. This technology allows you to control aspects of your vocal performance that were previously un-touched. With Voice Modeling™ you can enhance your performance with a an extra bit of breath or growl, or transform your performance into more unique sounds or effects.

The plug-ins uses proprietary vocal algorithms developed by TC-Helicon Vocal Technologies.

Pitch Correction

Voice Trained Pitch Recognition

The key for good pitch correction is knowing the pitch being sung. The pitch detection algorithm in Korg PA1X is the only algorithm available that was trained by real singers.

Attack, Amount and Window Control

A natural sounding pitch corrector needs flexible controls to produce great results. These controls also allow correction effects to be produced as well.

Custom Scales

Control the pitch correction based on the key and scale of your song, or setup up a custom scale to correct only a specific note.

Voice Modeling™

Real Vibrato

Why does it sound so natural? Because our Voice Modeling™ Vibrato is a complex model based on extensive analysis of real singers from all styles of music - it’s not just an LFO.

Inflection Curves

Vocal character is also found in the way singers begin their phrases, scooping or falling into their notes. Voice Modeling Inflection can intelligently identify phrase beginnings, applying user-selected styles.

Glottal

Now you can add extra breathiness, whisper, deep growl and "whiskey and cigarettes" rasp to your voice. These effects are normally associated with vocal damage and are difficult to perform. You just dial up, audition and change at will.

Resonance

Voices depend on the body that sings them for their unique sound. Head, chest and throat resonance all depend on physiology. Our Warp styles cover a range of sounds and colours, letting you dial up a chest tone, dial down a nasal tone -
from the subtle to the dramatic.

Spectral

Physiological differences also give every singer a unique overall EQ applied in the vocal tract. VoicePrismPlus Spectral EQ works the same way! The result? You can dial up a high-boost curve but consonants and esses don’t split your eardrums.

Examples

Here are some examples of what you can accomplish with this plug-in.

Pitch Correction

Here is a voice before the cure with our Pitch Correction algorhythm:

  pc_outtune.mp3 (673 KB)

Odd, isn't it? And now, listen to the same passage after having being processed with the Pitch Correction:

  pc_intune.mp3 (672 KB)

Voice Modeling™

This one is a female voice with an added subtle warp and vibrato:

  vm_warp_vib.mp3 (533 KB)

Combined

The idea behind the following samples is that they are all sung by the same singer, but their character changes deeply depending on the added effect.

First, here is the dreaded "Cher effect", achieved by combining the pitch corrector and resonance filtering:

  dance.mp3 (801 KB)

Here, the voice is modeled to sound younger than the original singer:

  young_philly_keeper.mp3 (823 KB)

On the contrary, this one is made to sound like an older choir singer with vibrato and resonance:

  old_cheez_keeper_limit.mp3 (918 KB)

And now, back to the Delta times, by dirtening the vocal a bit by means of glottal and resonance:

  blues_keeper_limit.mp3 (1.3 MB)

Isn't it pretty cool that you can have all these different voices starting from the same original voice?
